North Norfolk has one of the largest artistic communities in the UK. With its many galleries for artists, sculptors and potters, as well as theatre, dance and outdoor concerts, there’s always so much to see and experience.
North Norfolk has an array of festivals, exhibitions, shows, theatres and events to enjoy throughout the year. There are carnivals and festivals celebrating arts, enjoying the outdoors, offering family fun and there are events exploring the area's heritage; so there's something for everyone in north Norfolk.
Unique to north Norfolk is Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre, the only one of its kind in the country which stages traditional variety shows as well as live music events. There are several theatres in north Norfolk, including Sheringham's Little Theatre and Hunstanton Princess Theatre. Cinemas are perfect for rainy days and keep an eye out for the pop up cinemas during the summer. Wells Maltings is a theatre and cinema showcasing local and national talent.
For arts, head to Houghton Hall. Constructed in the 1720s for Britain's first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, Houghton Hall is now the residence of the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, a direct descendant of Sir Robert Walpole, and his family. The Sculpture Park features an impressive permanent collection of contemporary sculptures. Each year sees new world-renowned artists' exhibiting their at the Hall and grounds, including Antony Gormley, Tony Cragg and Magdalene Odundo. The Hall is also home to the world's largest private collection of model soldiers in the Model Soldier Museum.

There are events all year round celebrating the arts as well as live classical, pop, rock and clubbing outdoor music events in stunning venues including Holkham Hall and the National Trust's Blickling Hall.
As well as being well known for great events, there are several landmarks in the area that inspired many famous writings. The coast, countryside and Norfolk Broads became well-known over the years, when famous writers, poets and authors were inspired to create important literary works. North Norfolk has also been the backdrop for many films and TV programmes.
If you're look for festivals and carnivals, north Norfolk is the place to be! All year round there are events celebrating the area's heritage and past. Popular festivals include The Viking Festival, The Holt Festival, The Crab & Lobster Festival and Wells Carnival.
