About

Westacre Theatre, home to Westacre Theatre Company, is located in rural West Norfolk near Swaffham, about 35 miles west of Norwich. Housed in a converted chapel with an 80-seat studio, the theatre offers a year-round lineup of in-house productions, visiting companies, concerts, workshops, cinema screenings, and more. Since 1990, summer productions have drawn audiences from across East Anglia and beyond, with many performances playing to full houses.

Our intimate studio theatre sits alongside a beautiful outdoor performance space, surrounded by lawns, mature trees and a lake. During the summer months, our covered outdoor stage comes alive with performances under wide open Norfolk skies, with audiences bringing picnics, settling on blankets and enjoying the wonderfully informal atmosphere that has become part of the Westacre experience. But Westacre is about much more than where we perform.

Our in-house theatre company produces around eight productions each year, alongside a programme of visiting theatre, music, cinema, book events, workshops, classes and community activities. We welcome touring companies into our rural corner of Norfolk and screen performances from organisations including the National Theatre, bringing ambitious and inspiring work to audiences who might otherwise have to travel a long way to experience it. We have always believed that great theatre shouldn't be something you have to live in a city to access.

Our productions may be made in a tiny rural theatre, but our ambitions are anything but tiny. We work hard to create high-quality, thought-provoking and entertaining theatre, with professional directors and creative practitioners working alongside an extraordinarily committed pool of performers, volunteers and local talent.
