About

Join me for a walking tour as we step back in time to discover how Lord Nelson’s home village, Burnham Thorpe, has evolved over the centuries. On this two hour tour, we’ll explore the buildings, heritage, and hidden memorials that define this historic landscape. Our journey will begin at All Saints’ Church, where Nelson was baptised, and takes us through the village, visiting the Nelson Memorial Hall and the original site of the rectory where he spent his childhood.

On our 2 ¼ mile route around the village, we will walk the same medieval paths the Admiral frequented as both a boy and a man. We finish our tour with tea or coffee at the Lord Nelson pub—originally The Plough—and uncover the personal connections and stories that tied one of history’s greatest naval heroes to this quiet village.

Born and raised in the Burnhams—with deep local ancestry —I’ve spent the last 25 years living in the heart of Burnham Thorpe and I am passionate about sharing local folklore and stories about the origins of our village as well as Nelsons time here.

Tours are scheduled weekly on my website from April to October.

Tours are available at other times on Wednesdays to Sundays - contact me direct for availability.
