Introduction to Green Woodworking bowl course at Deepdale Farm, 1 day course

About

Whether you are completely new to green woodworking, or you've previously done our original Introduction to Green Woodworking course using a spindle, why not have a go at bowl turning?
To help you dive straight in, Richard will have prepared a bowl blank and have it mounted on the pole lathe for you. He will patiently guide you on how to use the various hook tools and the angle at which to have them, which will gradually turn the wood into your bowl.
The aim is that by the end of the day you should have one bowl to take home, and a basic understanding of the core skills for bowl turning.
This course uses slightly different tools and techniques to the spindle, so it is complementary to our other introductory course. However, it does require a degree of fitness and mobility to get the most from the day because all the power that drives the lathe comes from your stepping motion on the treadle. Therefore, if you have any hip, knee, back or other ongoing health problems, you may find this course over demanding. However the spindle course should be ok for you.
It's a great opportunity to gain skills in this mindful rural craft.
