Thornham beach is one of the more remote beaches in north Norfolk. It is in the Norfolk Coast National Landscape (formerly an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The beach requires about a half mile walk to reach it which means it is not very busy.

The beach itself is mostly sandy with a few small bits of shingle. When the tide is in, the sea almost encroaches the sand dunes, and when it is low tide, there is an endless stretch of hard sand. Thornham beach is a tidal beach meaning you can get stranded so please check the tide times ahead of your visit. 

Thornham beach is very dog friendly and it has no restrictions. However please be mindful that the beach does border the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Holme Dunes Nature Reserve so dogs need to be kept under control, particularly in the nesting season amongst the sand dunes and also on the sea wall. 

There are no facilities on the beach, however nearby Holme Dunes Nature Reserve Visitor has a cafe and toilets and can be found the end of the board walk.
