Norfolk Rural Cottages

About

The Pig House is our fourth holiday development on our farm at Briningham and opened for booking in May 2019.  The property is a ‘Grand Design’ looking conversion of a former pig sty at Briningham set in a beautiful, quiet location in the middle of our farm.

Briningham is ideally located for exploring and enjoying the North Norfolk coast and countryside. Four miles from Holt and seven miles from Blakeney – we think we are in the perfect spot – close enough to the coast to be there in 10 or 15 minutes, but far enough away to not be in the hustle and bustle!

The Pig House is the perfect property for celebrating special occasions/birthdays and is ideal for all generations.

The Pig House has a stunning courtyard garden on the south side, which lends itself to outside entertaining and is a total sun trap, while on the north side there are stunning views out of a glass corner in the sitting room.

The property is dominated by a huge living area with a modern German Siematic kitchen with two large ovens, a large warming drawer, larder fridge and big deep freeze and a wine fridge as well as a Quooker Hot Tap so you don’t have to wait for the kettle to boil for that important cup of tea in the mornings! The dining table sits in front of the glass screens overlooking the courtyard garden and easily sits 12 people. The seating area has a super comfy large corner sofa with recliners and two ‘cuddle’ chairs as well as a 65 inch television. Just in case you fancy a fire – there is a wood burner – wood provided (October to April).

If you fancy curling up to watch a film in high definition and with surround sound head to the Cinema Room – perfect for a rainy day or a quiet evening in. It’s a cool and funky room with blue coloured walls and bright orange Ligne Roset sofas.

There are four bedrooms at The Pig House, all ensuite. Bedroom one has a super king size zip and link bed which can be turned into two single beds by request. Bedroom two has a super king size bed. Bedroom three has a super king size zip and link bed which can be turned into two single beds by request. Bedroom four is the master bedroom and has a super king size bed and a fantastic ensuite bathroom with an enormous shower with two showers, a bath and twin sinks.

All the bathrooms have electric towel rails, under floor heating, mirrors with lights, shaving and tooth brush sockets. All four showers are generously sized. All the bedrooms have fitted cupboards and full length mirrors.

There is an option to find room for one or two extra people at The Pig House… in both the Sitting Room and the Cinema Room there are nifty foot stools which turn into a small double bed – each one suitable for one person. There is an additional shower in the cloakroom – so no need to share anyone’s ensuite. There is an additional charge for use of these beds.

If you fancy a bit of quiet there is a separate sitting room with two impressive ‘Loaf’ sofas both overlooking the stunning view out of the glass corner which is the feature of this room.

Nobody wants to do the washing when on holiday – but sometimes it’s a necessity. There is a big utility room with large capacity washing machine and tumble dryer. There is plenty of room for boot storage and coats.

Outside at The Pig House there is seating for 8 under the Mulberry trees which provide natural shade.

If the weather isn’t quite right you can sit under cover in the ‘outside/inside’ area which has plenty of comfy outdoor furniture by Bramblecrest and an outdoor table tennis table for a bit of outdoor fun.

There is a Weber charcoal barbecue for your use.

The Jacuzzi comfortably seats 6 and there’s always room for a couple of extra ones! Please note that due to cleaning and emptying the Jacuzzi may not always be up to temperature on your arrival, but we will do our best!

Aside of the courtyard garden, the property is surrounded by a large grassed garden on the north and west side which is fenced. This should be dog proof and child proof – although I never guarantee that!

There is ample parking for cars, as well as parking for two cars in the car port. There is an EV charging point in the car port.  There may be a charge for this service.

Should you own a horse or two and don’t want to leave him or her at home – there are two stables which are available to have at additional cost. You can then take the opportunity to ride on the amazing expanses of sand on Holkham beach, just half an hour away and with permission ride around our 500 acre farm which surrounds The Pig House.

Although we don’t boast a local village pub – we do shout about a lot of very good pubs all within very easy reach…

The Hunworth Bell, The Kings Head at Letheringsett, The Wiveton Bell, The Pigs at Edgefield – just to name but a few! Oh… there’s also the The Crawfish at Thursford which does the best Thai takeaway for miles around!
