About

Sheringham is very popular because of its fine beaches and cliffs surrounded by picturesque wooded areas to the north with views over the sea. In recent decades the North Norfolk Railway (known as the Poppy Line) has continued to develop and is now one of the main attractions of Sheringham. There are several cafes, tea rooms on the promenade. Table service or take-away is also available.

Beach Access Points
• The beach can be accessed via a ramp at the end of Beach Road
• Vehicular access is not available onto the promenade but the promenade is easily accessible from the High Street. Access is also available from the Leas Gardens and the gangway at West Cliff Gardens.

On the Beach
• The beach is made up of sand, shingle and cobbles which is quite mobile being dependent on tides and currents. There are several groynes along the beach to help control coastal erosion
• On this award winning beach, two teams of RNLI Lifeguards operate between May-September from 10am - 6pm daily on the East and West promenade.
• Beach huts and chalets can be hired throughout the season.
• First aid is available from the Lifeguards when operating.
• There is a designated dog free zone area from May to September. This is clearly marked on the map which can be found on the Beach Information Board at the entrance to the beach.
• If you would like a barbeque party on the beach written permission from North Norfolk District Council is required. There is a disposable BBQ bin the bottom of Beach Road in Sheringham.
