Start point: Barton Broad Boardwalk car park, Long Road, Baton Turf (head to Neatishead village and follow brown signs to boardwalk).

1. At the car park entrance (with the toilet block on your right) you will see a footpath on your left. Take this footpath, signposted boardwalk. Follow the footpath as it bears left and zigzags around the field boundary.

2. When you reach the road (Irstead Road) bear right (signposted boardwalk) and follow the road.

3. Eventually on your left you will see the entrance to the boardwalk. If you do not have a dog, take the opportunity to visit the viewing platform. Head along the boardwalk bearing left and follow the signs to the viewing platform. Once you have seen the fantastic view of NWT Barton Broad, follow the boardwalk signs to the wheelchair accessible car park.

4. At the car park turn left onto the road (Irstead Road) and continue to the Give Way sign.

5. At the Give Way sign turn right onto Shoals Road (signposted Three Hammer Common).

6. Continue along the road, passing two roads on your left. Shortly after the second road you will see a footpath on your right that takes you diagonally across a field. Take this path.

7. When you reach the road (Long Road) turn right and continue until you see the start point on your right.

Look out for: Marsh tit, Tufted duck, Otter, Alder, Yellow flag irs, Siskin, Buzzard, Cuckoo flower.

Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk section of this walk.

A pub and community shop can be found in Neatishead village.

By Road:
From the A1151 follow signs to Neatishead and once in the village follow signs to the boardwalk. A car park for disabled visitors is available at the boardwalk entrance. Other visitors please use the car park in Long Road.

By Public Transport:
There is no direct public transport route to Barton Broad. For public transport timetables and information call 0871 200 2233 or visit traveline.org.uk

The nearest railway station is Hoveton, which is 4 miles away.
