HSBC UK 2019 NATIONAL ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD IN NORFOLK

The HSBC UK | National Road Championships will be taking place in Norfolk in 2019 and around half of the course will go through North Norfolk. The championships are the pinnacle of the domestic road calendar in Britain, regularly attracting the country’s top riders. Taking place between June 27 - 30, amateur cyclists will also have the chance to ride the same course as the professionals in a 100-mile sportive, meaning the new Great British Cycling Festival event is a true celebration of cycling of all abilities.

In partnership with Golazo, one of Europe’s premier sporting event organisers, the championships will see the men's and women's national time trial champions crowned on Thursday 27 June and the road races will be contested on Sunday 30 June. Routes and the schedules for both days are being finalised and will be announced in due course.

This flagship event will bring some of the world’s best cyclists to Norfolk; previous winners include Sir Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomes, Mark Cavendish and Lizzie Deignan. Cyclists will be competing for a place in the Great Britain Cycling Team for the home road world championships, in Yorkshire in September while providing visitors and residents the chance to watch elite racing along the route.

The best of British mountain biking will also be on display as Norwich hosts the fifth round of HSBC UK | National Cross-country Series.

Amateur cyclists will have the opportunity to ride the same, closed-road course as the professionals, in a 100-mile sportive. Cyclists are invited to sign up for the mass participation ride, of which the aim is to promote fitter, greener and healthier communities through increased levels of cycling.
