About

Repps Riverside Walk is a 2.5 mile (4 kilometre) circular walk starting at the fish & chip restaurant at Heigham Bridge in Potter Heigham near Great Yarmouth. A countryside, village and riverside walk along the banks of the river with plenty to see along the way.

This walks starts and ends near to the Lathams store which provides a great spot for a comfort break and light refreshments. Further facilities are available along the route and there is plenty of parking available in Repps and Potter Heigham all year round.

1. With Heigham Bridge behind you, and the restaurant on your left, proceed ahead and join the cycle and foot path which runs alongside the road. Head towards the main road (A149); ignore the path leading to the river.

2. Turn right as the path crosses over the junction, before the main road. Cross the road with caution and then join the foot path which runs parallel to the road.

3. At Low Road, turn right at the post box and continue along the quiet lane after the foot path has ended.

4. Soon you will come to a village bench on your right directly opposite a thatched cottage. Turn right here, towards the allotments. Look for the finger sign pointing the way and follow the foot path along the field edge, passing a utility station. Follow the path alongside the hedgerow and as this ends, this well defined foot path continues across the middle of a meadow. At the junction, continue straight ahead, following a ridge of trees towards a derelict farm building. Pass this and you will see the grassy track becomes much wider as it runs between two fields.

5. The track then meets with a lane called Staithe Road, then becoming Pug Street. Turn right onto this lane and continue ahead as it winds its way to the River Thurne.

6. At the river, turn right onto Repps River bank path which is a small concrete path running behind the riverside cottages. Continue along this path with views of the river on your left and marsh on your right. At the path end, turn right and you will make your way back to the bridge.
