About
Join The Lord Chamberlain's Men this summer at Wolterton, for Shakespeare's gripping tragedy of love, jealousy, and betrayal. Performing with an all-male cast, they present authentic, excellent and magical productions of Shakespeare's finest plays bringing to vivid and accessible life the greatest works of drama, as they would first have been performed; in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.
Celebrated general Othello has won the heart of Desdemona, but their passionate marriage is poisoned by the deceitful Iago, whose manipulation sparks a devastating spiral of mistrust and revenge. Set against a backdrop of war and Venetian politics, Othello explores the destructive power of envy and the fragility of honour. As suspicion consumes him, Othello's noble strength turns to ruin in one of literature's most powerful portrayals of human vulnerability. A timeless tale of passion and manipulation, Othello remains as urgent and heartbreaking today as ever.
Performed on the southern lawns with the spectacular back drop of Wolterton Hall and views of our 10 acre lake, guests are invited to bring their own seating or picnic blankets.
Why not extend your experience by enjoying a delicious meal before the play. Outstanding local chefs from Country Box will be serving a 2 course pre – theatre dinner where you can start to prepare for your unforgettable evening.
