Temple, Trees, Turnips and a Tipple - Trailer Tour

About

Ever wondered what exactly is behind that enormous nine-mile wall around Holkham Park? Always fancied a good nosy around, but never quite got around to finding the time and sensible footwear required? What if an expedition could be all organised for you, with a nice seat, a commentary full of juicy titbits and even a glass of mulled cider and a mince pie to make the day extra special?

If this is you, you’ll be delighted to hear about our Temples, Trees and Turnips trailer tours! Specially devised by our chief storyteller, hop on board our tractor trailer for a trundle all around Holkham park to discover incredible architectural landmarks and buildings and find out how the park has changed through time. You’ll get to hear the wonderful story of why on earth we have Italian evergreen oaks in Holkham Park; visit ‘Longlands’ which has been brought back into use as the award-winning Holkham Studios; get up close to the Monument and the Obelisk; see Coke of Norfolk’s Great Barn and hear stories of the massively influential events that have taken place there over the years.

A new, exciting addition is a visit to the newly-renovated Samuel Wyatt Vinery. This beautiful building has been inaccessible to visitors for years, and we will be some of the very first to see the fabulous glasshouse and features. We’ll stop here for a delicious mulled cider (from local Whin Hill) and a mince pie while you get to look inside and hear the story of this fascinating building. Another highlight is a rare chance to go into the Temple, tucked away in the woods. As for the turnips, you’ll have to wait and see!
