About
For everyone who lives near one, an RNLI lifeboat is a source of communal pride and identity and a reminder that lifeboats exist because the sea imperils lives, including those of lifeboat crews. The August Lifeboat Service on Wells Quay is a magic moment of gratitude, admiration and harmony. The Wells community follows the outcomes of 'shouts', remembers stories of services such as that of the Savinesti (1979) and looks forward to a new chapter in the history of RNLI Wells, that will be written when the Shannon Class lifeboat named for HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, enters service in 2022.Wells Lifeboat Coxwain Nicky King and members of the crew will tell the story of the RNLI and its predecessor organisations in Wells.
