Pensthorpe Wildlife & Gardens
Pensthorpe is a great place to get children involved in wildlife and the great outdoors. Not only is there a huge variety of birds and wildlife to spot, but families can choose from a range of activities to engage everyone whatever their age. Feed the birds at one of our specialist locations, get stuck in with our wildlife tracker trail or try your hand at pond dipping
From the structural beauty of the Millennium Garden, to the lush foliage in the Wave Garden; the habitat-specific Wildlife Habitat Garden and the more subtle, traditionally-managed flood plain of the Wildflower Meadow, Pensthorpe is able to provide year round colour and interest. Whether a serious gardener or someone who just appreciates beauty our gardens are truly inspirational.
Seasonal migrants and increasing numbers of resident birds all benefit from the diverse range of habitats and sympathetic way the Pensthorpe is managed . The Reserve is regionally recognised as a breeding site for many species that are of limited distribution in the UK, including Little Ringed Plover, Sandmartin, and Marsh Harrier.
Our Courtyard café serves delicious home cooked food , snacks and picnic boxes throughout the day to help feed healthy appetites.
