Details
Built in early 1800 this Arts and Craft style house was home to the Countess of Yarborough and her husband John Maunsell Richardson (nicknamed Cat Richardson), in his day the best gentleman National Hunt jockey in England having won every major steeplechase race twice including the Grand National in 1873 and 1874. The property was once owned by Florence Barclay the well-known authoress of the "Rosary" and many other novels. Her original writing desk can be found in the Drawing Room.
Overstrand is a pretty coastal fishing village close to the town of Cromer, made famous by Clement Scott the London Drama and Literary critic in Victorian times who named it Poppyland. From his published articles in the Daily Telegraph came a constant flow of London's most famous acting community to visit and stay in Overstrand. The village is populated with large, interesting houses from that time.
Quiet and peaceful Danum house is a historic house that still retains its Old World charm. Only minutes from the sea guests can explore the beautiful sandy beaches and the long country walks close by. Inside a feature of the property is the original oak panel walls in all the reception rooms. Full English breakfast, central heating, en-suite rooms with TV and coffee/tea making facilities for guests. Off-road parking.
